Open Society Foundations names People of Color Psychedelic Collective founder Ifetayo Harvey a 2022 Soros Justice Fellow

While psychedelics’ popularity grows in mainstream consciousness, the People of Color Psychedelic Collective seeks to expand its impact through the creation of a new coalition.

New York, NY – As a 2022 Soros Justice Fellow, Ifetayo will build a coalition of praxis-aligned organizations and individuals to build new narratives rooted in social justice, highlighting the needs of people of color and other marginalized groups, and raise awareness to increase corporatization of psychedelics.

Since the organization’s creation, POCPC has raised $100K and produced 12 low-cost public education programs and workshops.

When asked about the fellowship, Ifetayo states that “the psychedelic field needs organizations and individuals to be in service of the needs of people of color, especially those with limited resources. Many of the dominant voices in the psychedelic community do not prioritize the war on drugs’ disproportionate impact on people of color in their work. If left to them, people of color will be paid dust in the so-called ‘psychedelic renaissance.’
